How weight is estimated
Each listing has a material type, a quantity and a unit. Offcut multiplies the quantity by a typical weight for that unit. For example, a 4×8 sheet of plywood is about 50 lb, a sheet of drywall about 55 lb and a bundle of shingles about 70 lb. Sellers can override the estimate. Only listings closed with a pickup code or marked gone count toward the total.
What we don't claim
We don't convert weight into carbon savings or dollars, because mixed materials don't have a single defensible factor. We also don't count expired or removed listings.
