How it works

From pile to pickup.

Offcut is a matching service. It connects the person with leftovers to the person who needs them, books the pickup, and then gets out of the way.

If you have leftovers

  1. Snap or upload a photo. The photo is shrunk on your phone and its GPS data is removed. Offcut suggests the material, count and weight, and you check them.
  2. Set pickup windows. Give up to three times in the next three weeks when someone may come by. Enter the pickup address, which stays private.
  3. Confirm by email. Your listing goes live when you open the private link we send. Nobody needs a password.
  4. Meet the buyer and check the code. Type the buyer's pickup code into your manage page. This closes the listing and counts the weight reused.

If you need materials

  1. Save a request. Pick a material type or describe it, then set how far you'll drive. Confirm by email.
  2. Get alerts. When a matching listing appears inside your radius, you get an email with the details and distance.
  3. Hold a pickup window. Choose one of the seller's windows. Your pickup page shows the exact address and a code.
  4. Inspect, load, go. Check the materials before you take them. If there's a price, you pay the seller directly. Show the code when you collect.

What Offcut doesn't do

No handling of goods

We never inspect, store, transport or warrant materials.

No cut of the price

If a seller asks for money, the buyer pays the seller directly. Offcut only charges for its own services.

No hazardous items

Listings that mention asbestos, lead paint, chemicals, fuels or refrigerants are refused automatically. See Safety & rules.
